Learning Sheets for schools

Pupils clay model monuments

The Resurrecting & Preserving History Project provides various opportunities for school pupils to learn about the history and unique assets of the Southern Necropolis, while developing different aspects of their own learning.

Through taking part in a structured set of lessons they will learn about the origins of the cemetery, characters buried within and their unique contributions to history, have some hands on experience of creating their own clay model monuments and try their hand at carving an initial letter onto stone.

Visiting the Southern Necropolis they will see some of the monuments throughout the onsite Heritage Trail and be introduced to the importance of looking after and respecting the environment of the cemetery.

The project will compliment the four aspects of the Curriculum such as:

Successful Learner

Confident Individual

Responsible Citizen

Effective Contributor

While  providing opportunities for the development of various attributes relating to learning.
